Martyr Nyebera by Kamikazee

Title: Martyr Nyebera
Artist: Kamikazee
Album: Maharot
Time: 4:59

Very well done music video. I enjoyed this one very much. No wonder it won the 20th Awit Awards for best music video. Great special effects. However that fight scene with "Bones Lee" did not really coincide with the beat of the music. They could have picked a different scene during that part of the song. Oh well... everyone is a critique...

Ah yes... High School Life! We've all went through that initial stalking phase when we were in High School. Sending out those creepy love letters to our first crush. And we then later find out that our girl is in love with someone else. Oh how our hearts were broken. But the funny part about life is, we got better at stalking someone else as we grow up. And we are much more determined this time. Oh well that's how life is.

How Did You Know by Gary Valenciano

Title: How Did You Know
Artist: Gary Valenciano
Album: Pure Heart
Time: 4:03

Gary Valenciano won the 2005 Awit Awards for best male performance
with this song. At that time, that was his second Awit Awards in a row since 2004 and all in all seventh trophy since 1988. The song is very well composed in my opinion and rightfully deserve recognitions.

The song was the movie soundtrack of "All My Life" which several clips from the movie were used in the music video. Since the song came out, I must have heard this song a million times played out. And majority of it were from weddings. The song does have a very sentimental romantic lyrics.

So now it is immortalized here in my blog so you and I can watch and listen to it one more time.

Ikon winners

Congratulations to both Kjwan and Vina Morales for winning the first Ikon singing competition. There were three coutries who participated in this competition -- one from Malaysia, one from Indonesia, and of course, one from the Philippines.

Each performer were asked to perfom two songs of their choice and that a final song was choosen by one of the four judges.
Vina Morales did her rendition of "Pangako Sa Iyo", a tele-novela theme song and "Feels So Nice", a fast upbeat dance music. While Kjwan sang “Invitation”, a hard rock and "One Look", a reggae music.

The judging was not done by phone voting but was done by the panel of judges from Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore. The winners got a $25,000 cash prize and trophies to take home. Very well done to Kjwan and Vina.

Kung Paano by Jasmine Trias

Title: Kung Paano
Artist: Jasmine Trias
Album: Jasmine Trias
Time: 4:23

Yes folks, another Jasmine Trias music video. Sorry. I can't help it. I just like the song. But not really sure I understand her videos at all. What's up with those rain? If you watched her other music video, you would know what I am talking about. It must be something about growing up in Hawaii where rain pours pretty much throughout the year.

Sana Lagi by Jasmine Trias

Title: Sana Lagi
Artist: Jasmine Trias
Album: Jasmine Trias
Time: 3:44

This song is from her self titled cd, "Jasmine Trias". It was the Philippines released under Universal Records which contained different tracklist from the US released which is under Clockwork Entertainment label.

By the way, what's with the washer and dryer in the background of the video? I can't seem to put it together with the theme of the music video at all. I wonder if it has to do with all that rain pouring that she has to do her laundry. hmmmm

This is a remake version that Sharon Cuneta did for the same movie title back in the 70s. I've heard Sharon's version, but the modern version do sounds better to me. Well sit back and enjoy.

Sorry Na, Pwede Ba by Brownman Revival

Title: Sorry Na, Pwede Ba
Artist: Brownman Revival
Album: Ayos Din
Time: 4:22

This is a remake version of Rico J Puno which is written and composed by Rey Valera in 1978. I haven't heard Rico's version of the song but I like how the song is arranged in Reggae format. Not sure if I actually saw Rico in the music video. I would assume that he would make a quick apperance or something. However, in the bonus track of the CD, he did collaborate with the band to sing this song.

Title: In Another Lifetime
Artist: Gary Valenciano
Album: Relevance

Winner of 2007 Awit Awards for best male performance and best ballad song. This is the soundtrack of the movie "Eternity". The scenes you see in the video are clips from the movie. The song was written by Jude Gitamondoc and arranged by his longtime musical director Mon Faustino.

By the way, Gary has won his 10th Awit Award trophy since 1989 and his 4th in a row since 2004. This is one big tremendous accomplishment. I wonder what will he come up with this year.

Ikon singing competition

Woah!! Yet another reality singing contest. It appears that people are just so enamored with all of these realtiy singing contests that they just can't get enough of. Why? Anyway, to give you a little background on this, according to Wikipedia...

“IKON Malaysia is a reality singing competition which searches for a champion among existing or established artistes rather than among new, unknown starlets as in other such singing competitions.

So basically there are three countries participating in this contest. (Malaysia, Indonesia, and of course the Philippines). Each countries have their own individual contest to see who to send to this big singing contest. There will be a solo artist and the other will be a group. Winner of that contest will get a trophy (naturally) and $25,000. And of course bragging rights. But the obvious reason would be is awarness. This contest will be shown to several millions of people and whether you win or lose, there will be people out there who will buy their album.

Anyway, the Philippines has finally choosen their representative three days ago. The competition ended with Vina Morales and Kjwan who will be competiting. Beating out Sitti, Skarlet and Kala and Truefaith.

The ASEAN finals will start this Sunday, August 12 in Malaysia.
So stay tuned folks to see who will prevail. I'll keep you posted as soon as I hear anything. But this would be very interesting to see. No amatuers here. Strictlyprofessionals.

You can get more information here...
