Sorry folks. I really couldn't find the actual music video that is worth putting up on this blog for this great song. If you know where I can get them, please do let me know. So basically, this is just an image with the song in the background. At least, we can all just appreciate listening to the song. The song actually finishes at around 4:30. I am not sure why the author decided to extend three more minutes. Oh well. This song is really very well done.

Title: Kahit Isang Saglit

Album: Various Songs

This is a great ballad song that I've heard in a long time. I couldn't find the music video for this particular song. Instead, I opt with this live version. So hopefully it would capture the essence of how powerful this ballad song is.

Geez... Isn't she too young to be acting like your girl? I don't know but she really looks 13 to me. But hey, if that's your cup of tea, I am not judging. If R. Kelly is your idol, so be it. But you could have picked someone who looks more older than that.

Nice white background btw. I am sure they put a lot of creativity behind in creating your music video. Not that I am expert on creating one.

Pinakamagandang Lalake by Janno Gibbs

Title: Pinakamagandan Lalake
Artist: Janno Gibbs
Album: Seven
Time: 3:59

When they said they have a very small budget, they really mean it. There is really nothing much to say about the background at all. However, the music video was done well inspite of it. The actors who did the cameo could have done much better. But I guess you can't do too much of a second takes. I'd bet planning was not organized at all. My hats off to the guy who did the editting.

Wherever You Are by South Border

Title: Wherever You Are
Artist: South Border
Album: Episode III
Time: 5:03

Episode III is so aptly titled to acknowledge where South Border is right now, in what they could call their historical trilogy. With each episode marked by a change in lead singer, the new South Border, whose current lineup was completed only over a year ago, promises a better, more mature sound in this album. It is being released by Brown Hand Records, a South Border label, and exclusively distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Philippines.

Episode III includes BEST THAT I CAN, their throw-away single that enjoyed popular airplay in mid-2003 - composed by Jay Durias, South Border's musical director, with lyrics by Sharon Inductivo, the band's manager - the same duo that created RAINBOW.

Inspiration comes when you least expect it, but for six of the 12 songs on the CD, it had to be staged. Working in a controlled environment in Subic, within a strict timetable, and under pressure from fans and supporters who had been clamoring for their new album, the band probably turned in, in this Subic safehouse, their richest musical literature in the shortest period of time. BROWN HAND SMASH, an R&B-rap ditty about the Pinoy's resilience and excellence in different fields of endeavor ("Who said Filipinos can't do this?!") and the sensuous THE SHOW, the bands most daringly risque piece to date, are the handiwork of Jay with lead singer Vince Alaras. These two also teamed up with other members of the band to produce WISH YOU WERE HERE (with bassist Tata Balane), Better Man (with lead guitarist Butch Victoriano and lead singer Duncan Ramos) and PLAYA (with Duncan). TOO CRAZY is reminiscent of their earlier Babyface influence, spiced up by skillful lead guitar playing. WHEREVER YOU ARE, which speaks of a love still being sought, was actually composed by Vince in high school and transformed into another soulful ballad by Jay's chords and arrangement.

USAHAY, a popular Visayan song interpreted many times over by various Visayan artists has been given an interesting, danceable twist in this album. GET READY exalts the youth as they prepare for the future, and one can already see another potential graduation day theme after this year's top graduation pick, RAINBOW. Ric Junasa's saxophone playing lends that distinctive South Border touch as always, while drummer Paul Benitez provides verve with his upbeat percussion in this album.

With RAINBOW REMIX completing the play list, EPISODE III is just about ready to give South Border's borderless audience another taste of their unique brand of music.

When I first heard this, Lea Salonga sang this song beautifully. I am sure there were a lot of artists who sang this song after Lea and did their own rendtion. Barbie of course is one of them. And I love how she did it and I love how they did the music video. The music video does remind me of the Moonstar88 video. hmmm... I wonder if it was done by the same director, perhaps.

Love Is All I Need by Yasmien Kurdi

Title: Love Is All I Need
Artist: Yasmien Kurdi
Album: Love Is All I Need
Time: 3:58

I really am not sure if this is a music video or a fashion video. Is she really just showing off the latest fashion designs? Is it just me who noticed this at all? I suppose they have to find something to take people's focus out of the song because that song was really awful or maybe the singer singing that song was really bad.

Very well done music video. I enjoyed this one very much. No wonder it won the 20th Awit Awards for best music video. Great special effects. However that fight scene with "Bones Lee" did not really coincide with the beat of the music. They could have picked a different scene during that part of the song. Oh well... everyone is a critique...

Ah yes... High School Life! We've all went through that initial stalking phase when we were in High School. Sending out those creepy love letters to our first crush. And we then later find out that our girl is in love with someone else. Oh how our hearts were broken. But the funny part about life is, we got better at stalking someone else as we grow up. And we are much more determined this time. Oh well that's how life is.

How Did You Know by Gary Valenciano

Title: How Did You Know
Artist: Gary Valenciano
Album: Pure Heart
Time: 4:03

Gary Valenciano won the 2005 Awit Awards for best male performance
with this song. At that time, that was his second Awit Awards in a row since 2004 and all in all seventh trophy since 1988. The song is very well composed in my opinion and rightfully deserve recognitions.

The song was the movie soundtrack of "All My Life" which several clips from the movie were used in the music video. Since the song came out, I must have heard this song a million times played out. And majority of it were from weddings. The song does have a very sentimental romantic lyrics.

So now it is immortalized here in my blog so you and I can watch and listen to it one more time.

Yes folks, another Jasmine Trias music video. Sorry. I can't help it. I just like the song. But not really sure I understand her videos at all. What's up with those rain? If you watched her other music video, you would know what I am talking about. It must be something about growing up in Hawaii where rain pours pretty much throughout the year.

By the way, what's with the washer and dryer in the background of the video? I can't seem to put it together with the theme of the music video at all. I wonder if it has to do with all that rain pouring that she has to do her laundry. hmmmm

This is a remake version of Rico J Puno which is written and composed by Rey Valera in 1978. I haven't heard Rico's version of the song but I like how the song is arranged in Reggae format. Not sure if I actually saw Rico in the music video. I would assume that he would make a quick apperance or something. However, in the bonus track of the CD, he did collaborate with the band to sing this song.

Winner of 2007 Awit Awards for best male performance and best ballad song. This is the soundtrack of the movie "Eternity". The scenes you see in the video are clips from the movie. The song was written by Jude Gitamondoc and arranged by his longtime musical director Mon Faustino.

By the way, Gary has won his 10th Awit Award trophy since 1989 and his 4th in a row since 2004. This is one big tremendous accomplishment. I wonder what will he come up with this year.

Ikon singing competition

Woah!! Yet another reality singing contest. It appears that people are just so enamored with all of these realtiy singing contests that they just can't get enough of. Why? Anyway, to give you a little background on this, according to Wikipedia...

“IKON Malaysia is a reality singing competition which searches for a champion among existing or established artistes rather than among new, unknown starlets as in other such singing competitions.

So basically there are three countries participating in this contest. (Malaysia, Indonesia, and of course the Philippines). Each countries have their own individual contest to see who to send to this big singing contest. There will be a solo artist and the other will be a group. Winner of that contest will get a trophy (naturally) and $25,000. And of course bragging rights. But the obvious reason would be is awarness. This contest will be shown to several millions of people and whether you win or lose, there will be people out there who will buy their album.

Anyway, the Philippines has finally choosen their representative three days ago. The competition ended with Vina Morales and Kjwan who will be competiting. Beating out Sitti, Skarlet and Kala and Truefaith.

The ASEAN finals will start this Sunday, August 12 in Malaysia.
So stay tuned folks to see who will prevail. I'll keep you posted as soon as I hear anything. But this would be very interesting to see. No amatuers here. Strictlyprofessionals.

You can get more information here...

Some tidbits about the music video. According to the band, when they went to Korea, they were so enamored and fascinatinated with the Korean culture that they actually did not want to leave. They were contemplating on staying for good. So when they decided to do this music video, the idea came from Chito Miranda that they wanted to put all of the Korean cliche's from popular Korean tele-novelas in their video. Very nice concept and funny video as usual.

Rivermaya is not disbanding..

So it appears that the group is not disbanding after all. In fact, the band is actually looking for someone to replace their frontman Rico Blanco. According to their website, "Auditions are being held and if you are 18 and above. Filipino. Male or female. No manager. No record label. Pls register at myrivermaya@gmail.com."

I do hope whoever they find to replace Rico, that they will be as successful and good as before. I am definitely looking forward to this and we'll see how it plays out. I'll post some updates once I hear something.

I don't usually listen to any rap music at all but this particular song is really very catchy tune. In the lyrics, "..Pag-ibig ko sa 'yo na 'di magbabago At kahit na anong bagyo, ika'y masusunud.", I wonder if that line ever works with women. Hmmm...

My First Post

Welcome everyone to my blog. I've been thinking about doing this for quite some time. After playing around with this and checking out what other fellow bloggers have, I finally decided to create one for myself. Essentially, this is just a place where I want to list down all of my favorite Filipino bands or artists. I totally enjoy listening to Filipino music and now I have a place where I can watch their music videos. Kinda like having my own MTV but with music videos.

I will try to post some upcoming concerts and reviews of upcoming new cds as well.

If there are any music videos you would like to suggest, do drop me a line. Otherwise, enjoy and hope you like this place.
